Leblanc Agrees to Terms With Islanders

BROOKLYN (July 17, 2015) – The New York Islanders announced today that forward Louis Leblanc has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract.

Leblanc, 24, scored 29 points (14 goals, 15 assists) in 71 games last season with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. The Pointe-Claire, Quebec native was second on the team in goals and points.

The Montreal Canadiens selected Leblanc in the first round (18th overall) of the 2009 National Hockey League Draft. In 50 career NHL games with Montreal, Leblanc has five goals and five assists. He’s also appeared in 234 career AHL games with Norfolk and the Hamilton Bulldogs, totaling 97 points (48 goals, 49 assists).

Leblanc’s amateur career included a season playing for the Omaha Lancers in the United States Hockey League, where he was named Rookie of the Year, a season at Harvard University, where he earned ECAC All-Rookie Team honors, and a season of junior hockey with the Montreal Juniors of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

On the international stage, Leblanc won a silver medal with Team Canada at the 2011 World Junior Championships with seven points (three goals, four assists) in seven games.
