Manhattanville College men’s ice hockey seniors Matt Lippa (Richmond Hill, Ont./Oakville Blades (OJHL)) and Oscar Arfelt (Stockholm, Sweden/Connecticut Oilers (EHL)) recently added additional accolades to their already-long list of honors for the 2018-19 season. The two First Team All-Americans were selected to the United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) Men’s Division III Second Team, announced by the organization over the weekend.
Lippa completed his career as the all-time leading goal scorer in program history and is second in points. Arfelt led all of Division III defensive in assists per game for the majority of the season and finished third in the country.
The two were key members of a squad the earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Championship by winning the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Tournament Title – their first as a program in the conference’s second year of existence. It was the Valiants first NCAA berth since 2008, and they were able to advance to the quarterfinal round following a huge road win in the opening round at UMass-Boston.
