PURCHASE, N.Y. – Manhattanville College women’s hockey junior forward Nicole Mensi (Mamaroneck, N.Y./SUNY Plattsburgh) swept the weekly conference honors this week, as she added United Collegiate Hockey Conference Player of the Week recognition to her second Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week Award of the season.

Mensi scored three times in the Valiants’ 4-2 victory over SUNY Canton Saturday afternoon. The junior took just three shots against the Kangaroos, but scored on all three for her second career hat trick.

Mensi scored on the first shift of the game, just 24 seconds after the opening puck drop off an assist from sophomore Ashley Lougheed (Vancouver, B.C./Pacific Steelers), then added her second of the game less than five minutes later off an assist from fellow sophomore Amanda Sabia (Freehold, N.J./The Gunnery).

After being held without a shot in the second period, Mensi, much like she had in the opening period, wasted no time in the final period, scoring just 13 seconds in off an assist from sophomore Zoey Pellowitz (Arlington, Va./Washington Pride), giving her nine goals and 15 points on the year, both team-bests.

Mensi and the Valiants return to action Wednesday afternoon in a 4 p.m. non-conference affair with the Saint Anselm Hawks at Playland Ice Casino.
