McMenimen and Ferrell Capture Season’s First SUNYAC Awards

POTSDAM, N.Y.-SUNY Potsdam men’s hockey players Brendan McMenimen (Merrimac, Mass./Islanders Hockey Club) and Bryce Ferrell (Buffalo, N.Y./Buffalo Jr. Sabres) have been honored by the State University of New York Athletic Conference after their play during opening weekend. McMenimen earned his second career SUNYAC Goalie of the Week award and Ferrell is the conference’s rookie of the week.

McMenimen made 39 saves for a .975 save percentage in the Bears’ 4-1 season-opening victory over Saint Michael’s on Friday. It was the 10th victory in his Potsdam career.

Ferrell had three points in his first two collegiate games. He recorded a goal and an assist in the win over Saint Michael’s. He then scored Potsdam’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Castleton on Saturday.

The Bears (1-0-1) open up SUNYAC play this Friday night when they head to Morrisville for a 7 p.m. contest. The teams then head back to Maxcy Ice Arena Saturday night to finish the season series.
