McMenimen Nabs SUNYAC Men’s Goalie of the Week Honors

POTSDAM, N.Y.-SUNY Potsdam men’s hockey player Brendan McMenimen (Merrimack, Mass./Islanders Hockey Club) is the State University of New York Athletic Conference’s Goalie of the Week. It’s the second time he’s earned the award this season and the sixth in his career.

McMenimen was 1-0-1 last week with a 1.92 goals-against-average, .940 save percentage and 63 saves. On Friday night, stopped 38 shots as the Bears rallied for a 1-1 tie against eighth-ranked SUNY Geneseo. The senior then made 25 saves as the Bears downed the College at Brockport 5-3 on Saturday. The victory ended a nine-game winless streak, got the Bears back to .500 and moved them fourth place in the league.

This season, McMenimen is 5-7-2 with a 3.63 goals-against-average and an .892 save percentage. Saturday’s victory was the 17th of his career, moving him into sole possession of seventh place on the program’s wins list.

The Bears are back in action on Saturday night as they head to Plattsburgh for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Cardinals. Potsdam downed Plattsburgh 3-1 in Maxcy on November 18.
