Ken Ludwig’s Moon Over Buffalo, directed by Kate Clelland opens on 30 April and continues until 15 May at Theatre 3, 3 Repertory Lane Acton. In the madcap comedy tradition of Lend Me a Tenor, the hilarious Moon Over Buffalo centres on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s.
At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano de Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. But maybe they have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel.
The talented cast for this Canberra Rep production include Ian Croker (George Hay), Barbara Denham (Charlotte Hay),Fay Butcher (Ethel), Naomi Milthorpe (Rosalind Hay), Jim Adamik (Howard), Carol Whitman (Eileen), Sam Hannan-Morrow (Paul) and John Honey (Richard).
Of course, everything that could go wrong does, and knowing it could happen, makes it even better.
