Lucy Morgan backed up her ECAC Hockey MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week honors with a 36-save performance, but the St. Lawrence University women’s hockey team’s offense failed to produce a goal, falling to Quinnipiac 1-0 at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena on Monday afternoon.

Taylor Girard scored the game’s only goal, taking advantage of a turnover in the Saints’ defensive end and firing a shot top shelf past Morgan with 4:40 remaining in the second period.

Catie Boudiette made 15 saves for Quinnipiac, which outshot the Saints 37-15.

Despite the shot discrepancy, St. Lawrence did have several scoring chances. Five minutes into the second period, Julia Gosling worked a puck free on the half boards and broke free towards the net, but Boudiette stopped her backhand bid. Anna Segedi had a great chance on a rebound from the right circle a few minutes later, but Boudiette was able to get over in time to make a pad save.

Both teams were 0-for-2 on the power play.

The Bobcats improved to 8-4-0 overall and 3-3-0 in ECAC Hockey play. St. Lawrence fell to 1-5-0, 1-4-0.

St. Lawrence was originally scheduled to face Clarkson on Wednesday night at Appleton Arena, but that contest has been postponed due to a pause on athletic activity at Clarkson until February 22 due to COVID-19 protocols. The Saints will play a home-and-home series with Colgate this weekend, hosting the Raiders on Friday at 5 p.m., then traveling to Hamilton for a 4 p.m. start on Sunday.
