MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women’s Hockey team headed east this weekend for a two-game non-conference series against a strong Morrisville State program. In Friday’s opener, the Falcons struggled to get much going, falling 4-0 against the Mustangs.

THE BASICS
– Final Score: Morrisville State 4, Concordia Wisconsin 0
– Location: Morrisville State IcePlex – Morrisville, N.Y.
– Records: Morrisville State 7-2-1; Concordia Wisconsin 5-4

HOW IT HAPPENED
– The Mustangs jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on a Kylie Cameron goal just 1:38 into play. Cameron’s goal was the only scoring of the opening stanza as Falcons goaltender Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) made 11 saves in the opening 20 minutes.

– The second period was where Morrisville State pulled away with three goals for a 4-0 lead heading into the second intermission. The first of those scores again came early in the stanza, 1:17 into the second off the stick of Mackenzie Lombardi.

– Pattengale finished the game with 35 saves for the Falcons, who were outshot 39-18 on Friday. Karoline Arvik stopped all 18 shots she faced for the Mustangs.

– Neither team spent much time in the penalty box on Friday, with just four infractions called for the contest. CUW committed three of the penalties for six minutes in the box, and the Mustangs capitalized on one of them, finishing 1-for-3 on the power play.
