MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State women’s ice hockey picked up another key Colonial Hockey Conference win on Saturday evening, routing the host Wildcats 5-0.

The Mustangs were completely dominant in their regular season finale, outshooting Johnson & Wales 49-13. And unlike last night, Morrisville scored three in the first period to put the game immediately out of reach for the Wildcats.

Stephanie Strymecki (Kelowna, British Columbia) netted the first goal of the game at the 9:13 mark in the first period. Kali Rutka (Anchorage, Alaska) picked up the assist. Kanekaroroks McComber (Kahnawake, Quebec) notched an unassisted goal five minutes later for a 2-0 Morrisville advantage.

Morrisville would then take an advantage of a Johnson & Wales slashing penalty to extend their first period lead to 3-0. Kimberly Hughes (Lloydminster, Alberta) tallied the power play goal, while Kaitlyn Schlake (Nampa, ID) and Maria deWilde (Caistorville, Ontario) picked up the assists.

The Mustangs continued to keep the pressure on the Wildcats throughout the rest of the game, notching goals in the second and third periods. deWilde scored in the second period and Strymecki capped off the scoring in the third with her team leading 14th goal of the season.

Taylor Pincheon (Corinth, N.Y.) made 13 saves for Morrisville to help the Mustangs record their second shutout in as many days and their seventh of the season.

The Mustangs will return to the ice for the Colonial Hockey Conference playoffs. Seeding and pairings are yet to be determined.
