POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam Athletic Director James Zalacca has announced a
radio contract between the College and the Stephens Media Group of Massena
for the 2013-14 season. Through the agreement, Bears men’s and women’s
basketball as well as men’s ice hockey home games will be broadcast on My
Mix 96.1 FM (WVLF).

The station will carry 14 men’s hockey games, 11 men’s and nine women’s
basketball games along with possible home playoff contests this year. Out
of the area fans, parents and alums can listen to My Mix 96 audio streamed
over the Internet via the Bearcast or accompanying the live video stream
provided through potsdambears.com. The broadcasts start with the men’s
hockey home opener against the University of New England on Nov. 2 and run
through the entire winter season.

“We’re extremely excited to partner with the Stephens Media Group in yet
another opportunity for the community to follow Potsdam Bears Athletics,”
said Zalacca. “Through the expanded coverage provided by Stephens,
combined with our live streaming capabilities, every Potsdam Bears
follower will have the opportunity to witness firsthand our teams in
action.”

My Mix 96.1 is one of three stations in Massena owned by Stephens Media
Group which also operates heritage station WMSA 1340 AM and 101.5 FM The
Fox serving northern New York and southern Canada. Stephens Media Group
operates 10 other stations in New York State, including three in
Ogdensburg, four in Watertown and three in Rochester.

“Stephens Media Group of Massena is privileged to partner with SUNY
Potsdam Athletics to broadcast Bears basketball and hockey on My Mix 96.1
FM,” said Mark Gaines, regional manager. “As a leader in providing
entertainment and information, we are excited to offer this local level of
sports broadcasts to the SUNY Potsdam community and beyond.”

Stephens’ production manger Ryan Leroux will assume play-by-play duties
both on the ice and the hardwood. Former Potsdam coach John Horan will
continue to serve as the color commentator and analyst during Bears hockey
games.

My Mix 96 will also carry the induction of Potsdam’s 1996 SUNYAC Ice
Hockey Champions into the Bears Hall of Fame prior to the start of the New
England game on Nov. 2.
