ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Host Nazareth scored all three of its goals in a six-minute stretch of the second period Friday as the Golden Flyers blanked Chatham, 3-0, in a women’s hockey fame in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference.

The Golden Flyers won for the ninth straight time — and fifth time by shutout — to improve to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in league play. Chatham is 3-7 overall and 1-4 in UCHC. The two teams face off again Saturday at 1 p.m.

Despite a 17-3 edge in first-period shots and two power play opportunities, the Golden Flyers failed to score in the opening period as Chatham goaltender Devon Strachan kept Nazareth frustrated.

In the second period, defenseman Gabriella DeMeo finally broke the deadlock on a fluky goal that happened when she flipped the puck from the back of the right faceoff circle and over the head of Strachan and into the goal, Cristina Darby gained an assist. Then at 12:35, Taylor Hudon scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season as she one-timed a shot past Strachan. Madison Nichols and Delaney Carle assisted.

At 16:58 of the period, Stephanie Kubis completed the scoring when her low shot through a maze of legs found its way into the net with Hudon gaining the assist.

Nazareth finished with a 44-17 advantage in shot with Adrianna Brehm making 17 saves for her third shutout. Strachan had 41 saves for the Cougars.
