Jericho native and Harvard junior defenseman Adam Fox and Clarkson University junior forward Nico Sturm were both named to the American Hockey Coaches Association (ACHA) East First Team All-Americans while Syracuse (Cicero) native Joel Farabee was selected as the Tim Taylor National Rookie of the Year in ceremonies Friday afternoon.
Fox, a Calgary draft pick who was traded to Carolina last summer and a Hobey Baker Award Hat-Trick finalist, led the Crimson in scoring with 39 assists and 48 points. He has 116 points in 97 collegiate games and is only five assists from 100 in his career. He came through the U.S. National Development Program.
The undrafted and Germany born Sturm had scouts salivating all season as he led the Golden Knights with 45 points in 39 contests. He cracked the 100-career point mark late in the season before giving up his final year of eligibility to sign with the Minnesota Wild where he played in two late-season games.
Farabee, a first-round draft pick for the Philadelphia Flyers (14th overall) was the top freshman scorer in Hockey East with Boston University with 36 points in 37 games including 17 goals.
