In the first of the day for WNYGVIH the Niagara County Lady Warriors beat Lancaster/Iroquois/Depew (LID) 6-2. This comes at the heals of their season opener on Monday night, a 5-1 victory over HEWS.
Niagara County came out strong scoring three goals in the first period. Dropping the puck in the net were Madison Mallone, unassisted at 14:31 of the first. That was followed by a goal by Natalie O’Brien, assisted by Paige Spatarico and the final first period tally from Marion Mansfield, assisted by O’Brien.
Skyler Berube scored on the power play at the start of the first, assisted by O’Brien and then Mansfield dropped in her second of the evening, assisted by Kayla Persinger and Natalee Lawrence.
LID came out strong scoring two goals in the third with scoring by Hailey Keppner, assisted by Morganne Dee; and then Dee scored, assisted by Brooklyn Warren with a little over a minute remaining. However, Niagara County also scored their final goal of the night in the third off the stick of Amanda Jackson, assisted by Sam Latini.
Niagara County Goalie Mariela Mulready stopped 22 of 24 shots in her first game of the season and LID’s Dylan Gorski started the game and stopped 17 of 23 shots and then was relieved by MacKenzie Walkowiak who made 6 of 6.
