OSWEGO, NY— No. 4 Oswego (11-2-3/6-1-1) netted three first period goals and claimed a 6-0 victory over visiting Buffalo State (6-10-2/2-5-2) tonight in a SUNYAC game at the Marano Campus Center Arena.
Oswego jumped out to an early lead with two goals just 35 seconds apart midway through the opening period and pushed the margin to 3-0 before the first intermission. The Lakers added a power-play goal in the second, and then tallied twice just nine seconds apart in the closing minutes of the game.
Oswego outshot the Bengals, 45-25. Sophomore Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) finished with 39 saves returning from injury in his first game action since Nov. 14 at Plattsburgh. Oswego finished 1 for 2 on the power play, while the Bengals were 0 for 4.
Buffalo State will visit Cortland for another SUNYAC game tomorrow at 7 p.m.
