Truscott, Wilson Earn Atlantic Hockey Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. – Following Niagara’s sweep of Mercyhurst, Alex Truscott and Brian Wilson have been recognized by Atlantic Hockey for their exceptional performances this past weekend.
Truscott, a sophomore forward from Draper, Utah, was named the association’s Player of the Week after scoring both game-winning goals against the Lakers. On Friday, he opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game, which ended as a 5-0 Niagara victory. The following night, Truscott broke a 1-1 tie with less than six minutes left in regulation as the Purple Eagles completed the sweep with a 3-1 win.
Wilson, a junior from Pickering, Ontario, was named the AHA Goalie of the Week after backstopping both wins for the Purple Eagles. The netminder turned aside all 26 shots he faced on Friday night to secure his fourth career shutout. Saturday saw Wilson make 23 saves against the Lakers to aid Niagara to its third straight win.
Truscott and Wilson join Ryan Naumovski (November 19) as Niagara’s Atlantic Hockey award winners in the 2019-20 season. It is Truscott’s first career weekly conference award, and the second for Wilson.
The Purple Eagles are back in action this weekend with home games against Air Force on Friday and Saturday nights. Puck drop for both matchups is set for 7:05 p.m. Fans interested in attending can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster or contact the ticket office at 716-286-TIXX(8499). Following the game, head coach Jason Lammers will also be available for postgame comments and questions.
