INDIANAPOLIS – Redshirt junior Jack Billings has been named the NCAA’s Third Star of the Week following a four-point (3 G, 1 A) weekend against Mercyhurst.

The forward posted two goals and an assist on Friday night in a 5-0 win over the Lakers in Erie, Pennsylvania. Both of Billings’ tallies came with less than three minutes left in the second period, and helped open up a four-goal lead heading into the final frame. His assist came on Niagara’s fifth goal late in the third.

On Saturday, Billings iced the game for the Purple Eagles when he buried an empty-net goal to make it 3-1 Niagara with 63 seconds left in regulation.

Billings now has seven points (5 G, 2 A) on the season, and has four goals and two assists during Niagara’s current three-game winning streak.

Billings and the Purple Eagles are back in action this weekend with home games against Air Force on Friday and Saturday nights. Puck drop for both matchups is set for 7:05 p.m. Fans interested in attending can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster or contact the Ticket Office at 716-286-TIXX (8499). Following the game, head coach Jason Lammers will also be available for postgame comments and questions.
