Chubak Nabs AHA Goaltender of the Month Honors

HAVERHILL, Mass. – Niagara junior Carsen Chubak was named Atlantic Hockey Goaltender for the month of October after his stellar performances between the pipes for the Purple Eagles.

Chubak lead Niagara to a 2-2-3 record during the month of October, stopping 194 of 204 shots.  The Prince Albert, Sask. native is ranked 12th in the nation in goals-against average (1.64) and ninth in the nation in save percentage (.951).

This week’s AHA Goalie of the Week opened the season with a 34-save effort in a 2-2 tie against Bowling Green in his first start since last October against Michigan in the 2011-12 season opener.  Chubak recorded his first shutout of the season and first of his career, in the 2-0 win over Clarkson on Oct. 26, making a career-high 44 saves.

Chubak hits the ice with his team this weekend against conference foe UConn.  The weekend series starts on Friday, Nov. 2, and wraps up the following day.  Both contests are set to begin at 7:05 p.m.
