ELMIRA, N.Y. – Former Niagara hockey forward Ryan Rashid (’14) has signed a Standard Player Contract with the East Coast Hockey League’s Elmira Jackals for the 2014-15 season.  The Jackals are an affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Rashid made his ECHL debut with Elmira at the end of last season, netting four points off two goals and two assists in six games.

Before joining the professional ranks, the Farmington Hills, MI native had a successful four-year career at Niagara, serving as a co-captain in his final season.  In 143 contests, Rashid collected 38 goals and 50 assists for 88 points.  His 21-point junior campaign helped the Purple Eagles to their first Atlantic Hockey Association regular season title and the program’s fourth trip to the NCAA tournament.

Elmira opens up the 2014-15 season with a two-game homestand against Kalamazoo on Oct. 17-18.
