One week after announcing its plans to host the 2021 season and Isobel Cup Playoffs in Lake Placid, NY, the NWHL unveiled the commemorative logo for the event.
Created by M Style Marketing, the logo will be at center ice when the NWHL plays 15 regular season games and nine Isobel Cup Playoff games at the 1980 Rink-Herb Brooks Arena between January 23 – February 5, 2021. Apparel and merchandise featuring the branding will be available for purchase in the coming weeks.
Among the design features of the logo are intertwined hockey sticks paired with six snow akes, representing the six teams of the NWHL. The circular logo is a nod to medals presented at the iconic rink, including the gold medals won by Canada at the IIHF Women’s World Championship in 1994 and by Team USA at the Olympics in 1980.
The 24-game competition begins Jan. 23, with each team playing ve games, followed by a playoff round
that will determine the four teams advancing to the Isobel Cup Semi nals. The winners of the Semi nals
will advance to the Isobel Cup Final, which will be played on Friday, Feb. 5. The two-week event, presented
in partnership with the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority, was created to play in a protective environment that prioritizes the health and safety of the players, staff, and surrounding community.
