First period scoring was opened by Suffern at 4:56 with a goal by Ryan Schelling, assisted by Jack Flatley and Ben Burns. It stayed 1-0 until 40.5 seconds were left in the period when the Shenendehowa Plainsmen’s Evan Stocker dropped one in, assisted by Freddie Hicks and Jackson Rajchel. First ends in a 1-1 tie.
Second period was all Suffern with two goals. The first scored by Aaron Shulman and the second by Schelling. 3-1 Suffern.
It was a heated-up first period with several penalties but also two more goals by Suffern and and two more by Schenendehowa. Ryan Schelling had both for Suffern, including the 1:19 empty netter to close out the period and the game at 5-3. For Schenendehowa it was Colin Palmer and Nolan Sullivan. Adding assists in the third for Suffern was Wyatt Levy; for the Plainsmen, Brandon Stocker and Calvin Hicks.
Suffern moved on to the Championship round, facing West Genesee.
Recognized by the Dairy Association for Sportsmanship in the series were Suffern’s Jack Flatley and Schenendehowa’s Joe Celtruda.
