OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego women’s ice hockey team scored three goals in a four-minute, five second span in the second period and earned a 4-0 win versus Cortland Friday night in ECAC West action. With the loss, the Red Dragons fell to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference, while the Lakers improved to 2-1 and 1-0.
Junior goalie Deanna Meunier (Parsippany, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) made 22 saves for Cortland. Her counterpart for Oswego, Tori Trovato, stopped 15 shots to register the shutout.
Erika Truschke led the Lakers with one goal and one assist. Lydia Cosgrove, Brennan Butler and Rachel Lenard each netted a goal, and Brianna Rice, Alexa Aramburu and Andrea Noss collected one assist apiece.
After a scoreless first period, the Lakers bunched up three quick goals starting just past the midway point of the second period to take a 3-0 lead. Truschke scored at 11:47, followed by goals from Cosgrove at 14:13 and Butler at 15:42. Lenard made it a 4-0 game with her goal just 42 seconds into the third period.
The same two teams face off again on Saturday at 3 p.m.
