Oswego, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team scored two goals in the second minute of the game which was all it would need to take down Stevenson University 2-1 on the final day of Pink the Rink Weekend on Sunday afternoon. Oswego’s win improves the season record to 12-6-1 while the Mustangs fall to 6-14-1.

At 1:24 in the first period, Stevenson was whistled for tripping, giving the Lakers a two-minute advantage. Oswego capitalized in unique fashion as senior captain Olivia Boersenscored at 2:02 off a pass from goalie Bridget Smith. The assist was Smith’ first of her career.

Exactly 40 seconds later, with the Mustangs back at full strength, the Lakers notched another goal. Ashley Lyman gave Oswego a 2-0 edge at 2:42 when she netted a tally off an assist from Erika Truschke.

Just under two minutes later, Stevenson scored what would represent the game’s final goal, as Liana Vazquez fed Jessie Capanelli for the point. The two teams would play the contest’s next 55:40 without another score.

Smith finished with 11 saves while earning the victory in net for the Lakers.
