Oswego will now host an ECAC West Championship first round matchup at 3 p.m. on Saturday as the No. 3-seeded Lakers face the No. 6 seed.
Goaltender Tori Trovato set a career-high with 40 saves in Saturday’s contest, allowing just two goals in the first period before holding the Cardinals scoreless for over 40-straight minutes.
Plattsburgh got all it would need at 12:12 in the first when Giovanna Senese netted a goal from Ali Vakos and Chelsea VanGlahn. VanGlahn then added an insurance goal six minutes later at 18:51 when Senese returned the favor. Caitlin Gilligan also was credited with an assist on the score.
The Laker penalty kill unit was again perfect on Saturday after killing eight penalties in Friday’s contest. Plattsburgh earned three power-plays on the afternoon but Oswego avoided damage in each of those situations.
After the game, the Lakers honored its nine seniors on Senior Day, recognizing Olivia Boersen, Jocelyn St. Clair, Mady Paul, Melissa Seamont, Emma Smetaniuk, Megan Hagg, Leslie Jarvis, Chelsea Hunt and Catherine Cote for their dedication to the program.
