CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has named Alli Ullrich its Women’s West Player of the Week and Olivia Ellis its Rookie of the Week for the week ending February 1, 2015. Oswego earned two victories over the weekend at home with a sweep of Buffalo State on Friday and Saturday.
Ullrich was a force to be reckoned with, recording six points in the two games. On Friday, the sophomore had a goal and an assist in the 3-2 victory. Her goal helped the Lakers capitalize on special teams, scoring on a power play. The defender showed even more offensive prowess on Saturday, recording a pair of goals and a pair of assists in the 8-1 win. Again she took advantage of power-play chances, tallying both of her goals with the Bengals serving penalties. Ullrich did not get distracted by her success on offense, continuing to anchor a defense that held Buffalo State to 0-for-7 on power-play opportunities over the weekend.
Ellis had a five-point weekend on the way to helping Oswego triumph over the Bengals in both games. The freshman played the role of distributor over the two games, earning four assists to go along with a goal. She had two assists in each game while her one tally came on the power play in Friday’s contest.
Oswego will look to stretch its win streak to three when it travels to Utica College for a 7 p.m. contest on Tuesday. The Lakers will then play a home-and-home series with league newcomer William Smith College over the weekend.
