The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team picked up its second-straight shutout win 4-0 over Cortland on Friday night in the Marano Campus Center Arena. With the win in their ECAC West-opener, the Lakers are now 2-1-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in conference action. The Red Dragons’ loss drops their records to 1-2-0, 0-1-0.

After a scoreless first period, Oswego had an offensive explosion in the second stanza. It started with Erika Truschke at 11:47 when she banged home a rebound goal after Brianna Rice‘s shot was saved. Truschke’s goal came just moments after taking a rough hit against the boards behind the Cortland net.

Less than three minutes later, Lydia Cosgrove cashed in her second-career goal off passes from Truschke and Alexa Aramburu. Shortly thereafter, the Lakers notched another goal as Brennan Butler fired a shot that the goalie couldn’t handle, trickling in the net.

Rachel Lenard capped the Oswego offense with a goal 42 seconds into the final period. It was the freshman’s first goal of her career and was assisted by classmate Andrea Noss.

Tori Trovato started in goal for the Lakers, recording her second-straight and sixth-career shutout. The junior captain made 15 saves throughout the contest, including nine in the first 20 minutes.
