BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senior goalie Andrew Hare (Burlington, Ontario) tallied 18 saves for his school-record 10th career shutout as the No. 2/5 Oswego State men’s ice hockey team (19-3-0, 12-1-0 SUNYAC) skated to a 4-0 win at Buffalo State Friday night. Hare, who posted his fifth shutout of the season, surpassed the previous record of nine career shutouts by Ryan Scott from 2004-08.

The Lakers cashed in on their first power-play opportunity of the game when Tyler Leimbrock (Sr., Bolton, Ontario) scored 5:40 into the first period with assists going to Chris Muise (Sr., Oakville, Ontario) and Chris Brown (Sr., Centreville, Ontario). Oswego State controlled play throughout the stanza, owning a 13-2 margin in shots on goal, but the visitors could not build on their lead heading into the second period.

Luke Moodie (Sr., Oakville, Ontario) doubled the Laker lead with his team-leading 16th goal at the 5:19 mark. Paul Rodrigues (Sr., Etobicoke, Ontario) and Jon Whitelaw (Sr., Huntsville, Ontario) were credited with assists on the play. Midway through the second, Oswego State turned another Bengal penalty into another power play courtesy of Bobby Gertsakis‘ (So., Pickering, Ontario) first collegiate goal. Muise and Brown had a hand in the marker that made the Laker lead, 3-0.

It remained a three-goal contest until Brown notched his third assist on the night when he fed Muise for his sixth goal of the season with 1:20 remaining in regulation.

Oswego State finished the game 2-for-7 on the power play compared to Buffalo State, which went 0-for-5. Bengal goalie Kevin Carr finished the contest with 29 saves in the loss.

The Lakers travel to Fredonia on Saturday for a key SUNYAC matchup for both squads as Oswego State looks to keep pace at the top of the standings and the Blue Devils fight for home-ice advantage in the first round of the league playoffs. Game time is 7 p.m.
