Oswego Tapped Second in USCHO Poll

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team sits in second place in the first USCHO.com Division III Poll of the 2012-13 season released on Monday. The Lakers received 276 votes and two first-place votes, as two-time defending NCAA Champion St. Norbert starts the year at the top spot with 290 votes and 18 first-place votes.

The other NCAA semifinalists, Norwich and Amherst, are ranked third (247) and sixth (180), respectively, with SUNYAC rival Plattsburgh sitting in fourth (207). Gustavus Adolphus rounds out the top five after receiving 202 votes. Buffalo State and Geneseo are the only other SUNYAC school listed in the poll, as the Bengals received three votes and the Blue Devils received two votes.

Oswego State plays its first road games of the season this weekend when it faces Brockport on Friday and Geneseo on Saturday at 7 p.m.
