De Pere, Wis. – The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team fell to 8-3-1 on the season with a 4-2 loss at St. Norbert College on Friday night at the Cornerstone Center.

St. Norbert scored the game’s first two goals before Oswego cut the lead in half. Emma Smetaniuk notched a goal with assists from Olivia Boersen and Melissa Seamont at the 3:14 mark of the second period. Smetaniuk’s goal came just 12 seconds after St. Norbert scored its second goal.

The host scored the eventual game-winner late in the second period but Jocelyn St. Clair gave the Lakers a shot to mount a comeback in the third. Alli Ullrich and Bailee Goodon assisted with just over five minutes left on St. Clair’s goal to make the score 3-2. St. Norbert sealed the victory with an empty net goal in the final minute of play.

Catherine Cote started in net for the Lakers and stopped 17 shots in the loss.
