Penguins Squeak By B-Sens In OT

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators salvaged a point with a 3-2 loss in overtime in the final meeting versus the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season.

The B-Sens and Penguins traded power-play goals over the opening 20 minutes of play. Binghamton struck first 13:49 into the frame when Michael Keranen beat Tristan Jarry short side for his 12th goal of the year. The Penguin’s power play responded less than four minutes later and just seconds into a five-on-three advantage. Kael Mouillierat sent a centering feed to Tom Kostopoulos who tapped home his 18th of the year to send the teams to the first intermission tied 1-1 with the B-Sens being outshot 3-9.

The B-Sens’ power-play unit regained the lead 11:46 into the middle frame after Casey Bailey beat Jarry for his ninth strike of the year. The Penguins power play responded just over three minutes later when Kostopoulos slapped home his second tally of the game. The Penguins outshot Binghamton 11-7 over the period, but the teams skated to the final break tied 2-2.

Following a scoreless third period with the B-Sens being outshot 11-8, the teams took their game to extra time to find a winner. Kael Mouillierat put home the game-winning goal away at the 2:12 mark of overtime to push the final score to 3-2.

Matt O’Connor stopped 31 shots in the losing effort while Jarry had 17 saves for the win.
