DANBURY, Conn. – After scoring three goals to lead the Manhattanville College men’s hockey team to a pair of big ECAC West Conference victories over the weekend, senior assistant captain Adam Platt (Trumbull, Conn./Springfield Pics (USPHL)) was recognized as the ECAC West Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Platt continued his strong play this season with a team-leading three goals in Manhattanville’s 5-3 win over Lebanon Valley College on Friday night and 5-4 victory over Stevenson University on Saturday evening.
The senior registered a game-high seven shots on Friday against the Dutchmen, and the seventh was by the far the most important as he forced a turnover and scored the game-winning goal on a shorthanded breakaway with 2:44 remaining in regulation. Platt then came back the next night with a pair of first-period goals, helping the Valiants out to a three-goal first-period lead in an eventual 5-4 triumph over the Mustangs.
Platt has had a breakout senior season for Manhattanville after recording 11 points in his first three years, having already potted 11 goals with nine assists for 20 points. He ranks second on the team in both goals and points this season, while his three shorthanded goals this year rank second both in the ECAC West Conference and on the school’s single-season list.
In 92 games as a Valiant, Platt has scored 15 goals with 16 assists for 31 points, and his three career shorthanded tallies are good for a tie for eighth place all-time at the school.
Platt will lead the Valiants into another critical conference weekend of play beginning on Friday night, when Manhattanville travels north to Hobart College at 7 p.m. in a matchup that will play a big role in determining postseason positioning.
