BUFFALO, NY—No. 10 Plattsburgh (15-5-1/11-2) opened the scoring just 47 seconds into the game and pulled away for a 6-0 victory over host Buffalo State (7-11-2/3-6-2) in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Ice Arena.
The Bengals took a penalty just nine seconds into the contest on a scrum in front of their goalie. The Cardinals wasted little time, with Michael Cassidy netting the power-play marker moments later. Plattsburgh pushed the lead to 2-0 later in the frame while Michael Radisa converted on a penalty shot after being hauled down on a shorthanded breakaway.
Dillan Fox and Mark Constantine pushed the lead to 4-0 in the middle stanza, before a pair of third-period goals by Kevin Emmerling completed the scoring for the Cardinals.
Plattsburgh outshot the Bengals 31-15 for the game and finished 2 for 5 on the power play. Buffalo State was unable to convert on six odd-man opportunities. Ian Sylves (Sloan, NY/JFK) finished with 25 saves in goal for the Bengals.
Buffalo State will host Potsdam in an important battle in the SUNYAC standings tomorrow at 7 p.m.
