Plattsburgh State’s Mitchell Hale Named PrestoSports Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Junior forward Mitchell Hale (Oakfield, N.Y./Johnstown Tomahawks) of Plattsburgh State has been named the PrestoSports Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Oct. 31, as announced by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

Hale tallied two goals (one shorthanded goal), three assists, a SUNYAC-leading five points, eight shots, two blocked shots and a +6 rating last week. He also tied for the SUNYAC lead in both assists and plus-minus. 

Hale began the week with one goal and one assist in Plattsburgh State’s non-conference game against Plymouth State on Friday, Oct. 29. Hale assisted on the Cardinals’ first goal of the game that was scored by sophomore forward Pavel Kharin (Ann Arbor, Mich./Johnstown Tomahawks) 37 seconds into the game before scoring the second goal of the game at 2:58 of the second period to give Plattsburgh State a 2-0 lead over Plymouth State. He also recorded a +2 rating against the Panthers. 

Hale concluded the week with a shorthanded goal and two assists for three points with a +4 rating in the Cardinals’ 8-1 non-conference win over Castleton University on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.

Plattsburgh State (1-1-0) begins SUNYAC play with a home game against SUNY Cortland at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.
