PARIS, FRANCE—TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger has reported that Bears Hall of Famer and All-American Chris Lee ’04 will dress for Team Canada tonight for its game against France in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships. The tournament is taking place in Paris and Cologne, Germany from May 5 -21. Lee has played for Team Canada twice before, in the 2012 and 2016 Deutschland Cups.

Lee compiled 41 goals and 74 assists for 115 points in four seasons as a defenseman and a forward for the Bears. He ranks 10th on the program’s all-time scoring list and became Potsdam’s fifth hockey All-American after the 2004 season.

After graduating, the MacTier, Ontario native spent six years playing professional hockey in the East Coast Hockey League and the American Hockey League. Lee then made his game international. He spent the 2010-11 campaign with the Cologne Sharks before moving the Mannheim Eagles the following year, both of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. He spent 2012-13 with Färjestad Bollklubb of the Swedish Elite League.

Lee then settled with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League for the 2013-14 campaign. The KHL is recognized as the world’s second best professional hockey league, behind just the NHL in prestige and talent. In his four seasons with Metallurg, he has amassed 44 goals and 135 assists for 179 points in 227 games as a defenseman. Lee has also helped his squad to Gagarin Cup Championships in 2014 and 2016. He played for St. Lawrence Univeristy alum and NHL legend Mike Keenan in 2012. Lee scored the game-winning goal in Metallurg’s game seven victory over CSKA Moscow in 2016.

Lee was inducted in the SUNY Potsdam Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.
