The SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey team has qualified for the playoffs for the third consecutive season and for the fourth time in the previous five seasons.

The Bears (12-9-4, 7-5-4, 18 conference points) learned of their playoff fate this past weekend after tying Utica College 4-4 on Saturday and then losing at Utica 6-4 on Sunday.

The result has set up a playoff rematch between the teams. The No. 4 seeded Pioneers (16-8-1, 9-6-1, 19 conference points) will host the No. 5 seeded Bears on Sunday, March 2, from the Utica Memorial Auditorium in Utica, N.Y. in an ECAC West quarterfinal playoff game at 12 p.m.

The winner will advance to the ECAC West semifinal that will be played at top-seeded Plattsburgh on Saturday, March 8.

In its sixth season in program history, Potsdam has already tied a school record for most overall wins (12) and conference wins (seven) this season.

The Bears, however, have already surpassed its previous high mark for most conference points in a season with 18, breaking the 2011-12 team’s previous high of 17 conference points.

Potsdam has showcased a robust starting line of scorers with four players having totaled at least 25 points on the season.

Freshman forward Jordan Ott (Hilton, N.Y. / Rochester, N.Y) leads the team with 22 goals (nine power play goals, four game-winners, and two hat tricks) with 14 assists for 36 points. She tallied three goals and three assists in the two-game series against Utica.

Senior forward Jessica Silveira (Brampton, Ontario / Brampton Thunder) is third in program history with 82 career points in 86 games. She trails just Breanna Roy (2008-12), who has 85 points, and Annmarie Lewis (2008-12), who is the all-time leading scorer with 94 points.

Silveira has 11 goals and a team-high as well as a career-high 24 assists. She has been red-hot of late with 19 points in her last 10 contests and tallied a goal and two assists in the series against Utica.

Seniors Amanda Lucky (Kanata, Ontario / Clarkson University) and Brittany Lucky (Kanata, Ontario / Ottawa Senators) have been major contributors as well for the Bears. Amanda (12 goals, 18 assists, 30 points) and Brittany (three goals, 22 assists, 25 points) round out the top four scorers.

Sophomore goaltender Alexane Rodrigue (Monkland, Ontario / Bemidji State) is the Bears’ first string net minder. Rodrigue (10-4-4) has a 2.95 goals against average with 541 saves for a .906 save percentage.

Utica is led by senior forward Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV / LA Selects) who has a team highs of 18 goals and 17 assists for 35 points. Myers has two goals and two assists in the season series against Potsdam.

Freshman forward Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI / Belle Tire) is next with 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 points. Schnepp recorded a hat trick in Sunday’s contest against Potsdam.

Other top scorers include senior forward Vanessa Maines (Boxborough, MA / Boston Jr. Shamrocks), who has nine goals, 13 assists, 22 points, and sophomore forward Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, Fla. / Cushing Academy), who has eight goals, 13 assists and 31 points for Utica.
