POTSDAM, N.Y.-SUNY Potsdam men’s hockey player Brendan McMenimen (Merrimack, Mass./Islander Hockey Club) has been named the State University New York Athletic Conference’s Goalie of the Week for the second time this season. The sophomore also earned the honor on Nov. 16.
McMenimen guided the Bears to a 1-0-1 SUNYAC weekend with a 1.92 goals-against-average and a .933 save percentage. On Friday night, he stopped 26 shots in a 3-3 tie with Cortland. The following evening, McMenimen made 30 saves as the Bears completed a season sweep of Oswego and clinched a playoff spot with a 2-1 win.
This season, McMenimen has posted a 9-5-2 record in 16 starts with a .910 save percentage and a 2.92 goals-against-average. He is 3-1-1 in his last five starts.
The Bears face a tough test this week as they host No. 2 Plattsburgh at 7 p.m. this Saturday night at Maxcy Ice Arena.
