Murray, Kolb earn All-NEWHL honors
POTSDAM, N.Y.—Two SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey players have earned All-Northeastern Women’s Hockey League status for the 2018-19 season. Senior captain Rylie Murray (Berkley, Michigan/Honeybaked) was named to the first team, while junior forward Miranda Kolb (Watertown, N.Y./SUNY Cortland) joined the second team.
Murray proved to be a talented two-way defenseman for the Bears in her four seasons. This year, she was third on the team in scoring with three goals and nine assists in 24 games. Murray finishes her career ranked 15th in program history with 33 points on 10 goals and 23 assists. In the fall as a member of the Bears women’s soccer team, Murray also earned first team All-SUNYAC and third team All-East Region accolades.
In her first season with the Bears, Kolb led the team in scoring with eight goals and six assists for 14 points, while playing in all 26 games. She had four power-play markers and three game-winning goals. She was also second team last season as a member of the Cortland Red Dragons.
In 2018-19, Potsdam posted a 9-14-3 overall record and claimed second place in the NEWHL with a 6-8-2 conference mark. As the two seed in the playoffs, the Bears hosted the first home playoff game in program history.
