Nutkevitch, McFarland sign deals with Central Hockey League teams
POTSDAM, N.Y.—Former SUNY Potsdam Bears hockey players Sy Nutkevitch
(Montreal, Quebec/Cornwall Colts) and Kevin McFarland (St. Louis,
Missouri/Woodstock Slammers), both Class of 2012, have signed contracts
with Central Hockey League teams for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
Nutkevitch, who was All-SUNYAC and led the SUNYAC conference in scoring in
2011-12, has joined the Tulsa Oilers. The forward spent just over a season
with the now defunct Texas Brahmas, totaling 15 goals and 36 assists for
51 points in 68 games.
McFarland, a goaltender, will join the St. Charles Chill this season. He
set Potsdam’s single-season save percentage record with .914 his senior
year. While McFarland didn’t play a full pro season last year, he turned a
lot of heads while spending most of the NHL training camp with the St.
Louis Blues.
