BROOKLYN – The New York Islanders announced today that Shane Prince has agreed to terms on a two-year deal.
Prince, 23, scored a total of 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in 42 games as a rookie last season with the Islanders and Ottawa Senators. The Islanders acquired the 23-year-old forward at the 2016 trade deadline. Prince scored five points (three goals, two assists) in 20 regular-season games with the Islanders and added four points (three goals, one assist) in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The Senators selected Prince in the second round (61st overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft. The Rochester, NY, native made his professional debut with Binghamton in 2012-13 and has totaled 148 career points (67 goals, 81 assists) in 206 AHL games. In 2014-15, Prince led the Binghamton Senators in scoring with 65 points (28 goals, 37 assists) in 72 American Hockey League games.
Prince played four seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67’s and Kitchener Rangers. He posted junior career highs in 2011-12 with Ottawa, scoring 43 goals and 47 points in just 57 games.
