Russo Leads Notre Dame to Upset Win

Robbie Russo and the unranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish tied and beat the No. 3 ranked Boston University in two games over the weekend. The teams played to a 2-2 draw Friday, before the Irish upset the Terriers 3-2 on Saturday. Russo was the difference in Saturday’s win, potting three assists, including two on the power play. Russo ranks second on Notre Dame with 12 goals with 12 and 30 points. The Islanders selected the Westmont, Illinois native in the fourth round, 95th overall in the 2011 NHL Draft.

Bridgeport Sound Tigers: 21-26-5-1, 5th in Northeast Division, 15th in Eastern Conference

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers lost 4-3 to the Hershey Bears on Saturday, but the real story proved to be a combined nine game misconducts and 192 penalty minutes between the teams. Cam Reid scored a goal and Matt Carkner recorded one assist in respective debuts. On Sunday, Carson McMillan debuted with the team and recorded one assist in a 3-2 loss to the Norfolk Admirals. Alan Quine scored two goals on the weekend to take the team lead in points, as Kael Mouillierat was recalled by the Islanders on Friday.

Sound Tigers Trade For Carson McMillan, Sign Cam Reid To PTO

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers acquired forward Carson McMillan from the Toronto Marlies in exchange for forward Peter Sivak on Thursday. Sivak spent the majority of the 2014–15 season with the ECHL’s Stockton Thunder, scoring 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 29 games while scoring one goal in six games with the Sound Tigers. McMillan played in 22 games with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL recording 14 points (five goals, nine assists) while ading one assist in 13 games with the Marlies. McMillan was originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild 200th overall in 2007 and has 16 games of NHL experience. The Sound Tigers also signed Cam Reid to a professional tryout Friday. Reid ranked first on the Reading Royals of the ECHL with 20 goals and second with 47 points in 50 games.

Stockton Thunder: 16-36-1, 7th in Pacific Division, 14th in Western Conference

The Idaho Steelheads swept the Stockton Thunder in three games over the weekend. Kent Simpson made 34 saves on 35 shots on Friday night, but the Steelheads only needed one goal for a 1-0 win. On Saturday, Jack MacLellan, Bryon Paulazzo and Tyler Maxwell scored in a 6-3 loss to the Steelheads. Idaho scored five times between a pair of Thunder goals, as Stockton lost 5-2 on Sunday. Vinny Scarsella and Tyler Shattock tallied in the defeat.
