BROOKLYN, NY – Former Robert Morris University standout Rebecca Vint today reached an agreement in principle to play for the NWHL’s Buffalo Beauts in 2017-18. The 25-year-old Vint spent the last two seasons with the Brampton Thunder, scoring 27 goals in just 43 games, and played in the 2017 CWHL All-Star Game.
“I’m ready to experience pro hockey on the other side of the border, and could not be more proud to be part of the Beauts and the NWHL,” said Vint. “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to help my new teammates in Buffalo defend the Isobel Cup. I know Sarah Edney and I are fully committed to giving the Beauts our best.”
Raised in Caledon, Ontario, Vint was selected 11th overall by the Thunder in the 2015 CWHL Draft. In her first year, she led the team in goals (19) and was a finalist for CWHL Rookie of the Year.
“It’s really important for me to give a huge shout-out to the rink staff and volunteers who are such a vital part of the Thunder family,” said Vint. “I also want to thank my teammates. We all became close friends. While I’m excited for this new challenge in the NWHL, I will miss lacing them up with the Thunder.”
Vint graduated Robert Morris in 2015 as the leading scorer in school history, a record broken last season by Brittany Howard, who was selected by the Beauts in the NWHL Draft on Thursday. For her career at Robert Morris, Vint was 73-61-134 in 127 games. As a freshman in 2011-12, Vint was named Rookie of the Year by College Hockey America and was named to the CHA All-Rookie Team. She was named All-CHA First Team three times and was captain of the Colonials for her senior year.
“Rebecca had a great career here at Robert Morris and was an integral part of the success that the program saw during her four years,” said Robert Morris head coach Paul Colontino. “She has a great passion for the game, and that rare combination of skill and desire to be successful in the pros. Rebecca will be a fantastic addition for the 2017 NWHL champion Buffalo Beauts and help the Beauts on their quest for a repeat championship.”
