RIT Women’s Hockey Falls To Robert Morris Again

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA – The RIT women’s hockey team (4-7-1, 1-3-0 CHA) fell to No. 10 Robert Morris (9-1-2, 4-0-2 CHA) Saturday afternoon in day two of the weekend series between the two schools from Colonial Arena.

Shots were 53-18 in favor of Robert Morris. Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) made 48 saves in the loss for the Tigers. She now has a remarkable 157 saves over the past three contests.

Black’s two goals were a career-high. Kandice Sheriff (Brampton, Ontario/) assisted on both goals, giving her a team-high nine points on the season.

Brittany Howard scored a pair of goals to pace the Colonials offense, while Amber Rennie tallied once and dished out a pair of assists for a three-point day. Elijah Milne-Price obtained the victory in net for the Colonials with 16 saves.

Both teams were 0-for-4 on the power-play, as Robert Morris held a 53-18 advantage in shots on goal.

Black had a great opportunity for RIT early on, ripping a shot off the post. Anjelica Diffendal scored her first goal of the season nine minutes into the first period to make the score 1-0 for the Colonials. Howard scored with just under three minutes remaining in the first to put the Colonials up 2-0.

Three minutes into the second period Black received a pass in front of the net from Sheriff and converted to cut the Colonials lead in half.

Howard would strike again midway through the period, scoring her second goal of the day and fourth of the weekend to make it 3-1 Colonials.

With under two minutes remaining in the second period, Sheriff sped down the Colonials defensive end and fired a shot that Milne-Price stopped. Black was following on the play and slammed in the rebound for her second goal, making it a 3-2 game..

Sarah Lecavalier scored seven minutes into the third to extend the Colonials lead to 4-2. Rennie increased Robert Morris’s lead with just over seven minutes remaining in the third to 5-2, completing the scoring.

Robert Morris leads the all-time series between the two schools 15-10-3.

RIT returns to action on Nov. 17-18 when they play a home-and-home weekend series against league foe Syracuse University. The Tigers will host the Orange Friday at 6 p.m. then take the trip to Syracuse on Saturday for a 3 p.m. start.
