ROCHESTER, NY – Junior forward Erik Brown (Keene, Ontario/Kemptville 73’s) of the RIT men’s hockey team was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month for February, 2018. It is the first monthly honor of his collegiate career.

Brown enjoyed an incredible month, leading all of Division I with 12 goals, while finishing tied for second with 16 points in nine February games. He scored 11 goals over the final five games with a pair of hat-tricks. On Feb. 20, Brown was named the NCAA’s First Star of the Week and Atlantic Hockey Offensive Player of the Week after recording back-to-back hat-tricks, including a Division I team record four goals in a 5-0 win at Sacred Heart on Feb. 17.

This season, Brown is second nationally with a Division I single-season program record 28 goals and has 39 points (28-11-39) in 34 games. Brown’s 51 career goals are the fourth most at RIT’s Division I level and just four shy of the program mark, held by Simon Lambert and Tyler Brenner.

Brown and the Tigers return to action at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, March 2 in game one of the Atlantic Hockey First Round Series against Sacred Heart University from the Gene Polisseni Center. Game two is Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and if necessary, game three is Sunday at 7:05 p.m.
