ROCHESTER, NY – Senior defenseman Alexander Kuqali (Pittsburgh, PA/Sioux City Musketeers) and freshman forward Mark Logan (Calgary, Alberta/Brooks Bandits ) of the RIT men’s hockey team, earned Atlantic Hockey weekly honors on Tuesday, for the week ending Jan. 17, 2016. Kuqali was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Logan garnered Rookie of the Week honors. It is the fourth weekly honor of Kuqali’s career and first for Logan.
Kuqali scored a goal, was plus-4, and blocked a pair of shots in a weekend sweep over Bentley. On Friday, Kuqali scored his second goal of the season, blocked two shots, and was plus-3 in a 3-2 win over the Falcons. On Saturday, Kuqali was plus-1 in a 6-3 win. He has nine points on two goals and seven assists in 22 games played this season.
Logan scored his first two collegiate goals in a weekend sweep at Bentley. On Friday, Logan scored his first goal, giving RIT a 2-0 lead in the second period in an eventual 3-2 win. The next night, he scored to give RIT a 2-1 lead in the second period en route to a 6-3 win. He now has five points on two goals and three assists in 17 games this season.
RIT is back in action this weekend, heading east to play Atlantic Hockey foe Sacred Heart. Both games from the Milford Ice Pavilion get underway at 7:05 p.m.
