Riveters Re-Sign D’Oench, Gruschow and Dosdall

BROOKLYN, NY, June 1, 2017 – The New York Riveters have finalized contracts for the 2017-2018 season with three key restricted free agents: forwards Miye D’Oench and Alexa Gruschow, and defender Kiira Dosdall.

On the day that unrestricted free agency begins in the NWHL, this brings the total of Riveters’ signings to ten. In addition to today’s trio, the Riveters already have the following returning players under contract for 2017-18: Katie Fitzgerald, Rebecca Russo, Ashley Johnston, Tatiana Rafter, Lauren Wash, Cheeky Herr and Sarah Bryant.

In 18 games last season, her first in the NWHL, D’Oench had 5 goals and 9 assists for 14 points.

The 5-4 forward was part of the U.S Women’s National U-18 team that captured silver in 2012. She played in 135 games in four years at Harvard and had 64 goals and 58 assists for 122 points. As a senior, she was named All-Ivy League second team and All-ECAC Hockey second team.

In her first season with the Riveters in 2016-17, Alexa Gruschow was 2-8-10 in 18 games.

Before the NWHL, Gruschow played four years at RPI. In 74 games, she scored 23 goals and 30 assists for 53 points. In her senior year, Gruschow led the team in goals (13) power play goals (5) and short-handed goals (2). Over her collegiate hockey career, she was 46-47-93 in 133 games.

 Kiira Dosdall is back for her third season with the Riveters. Over the first two, the steady defender had 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points over 35 games.

Dosdall played 134 games over four years at Colgate University and 11 goals and 52 assists for 63 points. She was named captain in her senior year.
