Roc City relied on the scoring touch of Brian Wade, who netted two goals, to beat Syracuse, 5-1.
Wade’s tallies came at 11:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Roc City and on the power play 6:25 into the second to make the score 2-0 Roc City.
Syracuse was stymied by Roc City’s netminder Justin Nevinger, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Nevinger certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.64 entering the contest.
Roc City’s offense rang up 39 shots on Syracuse’s net.
Roc City also got points from Anthony DePetres, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. John Papas also scored for Roc City. More assists for Roc City came via Wesley Austin, who had two and Bryan Smith, Joseph Gardner, Aiden Conolly, Benjamin Myles, John Melcher, and Zach Bucholz, who contributed one each.
Syracuse did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Syracuse averages 3.2 goals per game.
Syracuse was led by Felix Landry, who scored the team’s only goal. Landry scored on the power play 13:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Roc City. A tripping penalty on Myles had put Syracuse on the power play. Braeden Pearl picked up the assist.
Roc City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Hunter Andersen recorded 34 saves for Syracuse. Syracuse incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
