Nine Added in Men’s Hockey Class of 2023

Four forwards, four defensemen and one goaltender make up incoming group

TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) head men’s hockey head coach Dave Smith has announced the addition of nine student-athletes to the 2019-20 roster. Joining this year’s team will be four forwards, four defensemen and one goaltender. Seven are from the United States and two are from Canada.

“We are extremely excited about the depth of this year’s class and feel each one of these student-athletes will be a great addition to the RPI community, both on and off the ice,” said Smith. “We have increased our skill level and our overall team depth with these new additions.”

Tristan Ashbrook
Position: Forward
Height: 5’10”

2018-19 Statistics: 50 GP – 13 goals – 10 assists – 23 points
Major: Business Analytics
Why RPI: “After visiting campus and meeting the coaches, I knew that RPI would be a great fit for me. I cannot wait to head back to campus and get things started this fall!”

Cory Babichuk
Position: Defense

Alec Calvaruso
