POTSDAM, N.Y. – Senior Travis Fulton and junior Jake Wood each scored for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in a 2-2 tie at 17th-ranked Clarkson University, on Friday night at Cheel Arena. With the draw, the Engineers move to 3-4-1 overall (2-0-1 ECAC Hockey), while the Golden Knights are now 5-1-1 (0-0-1 ECAC Hockey).
Fulton opened the scoring at 7:12 of the first period, with the lone assist going to freshman Meirs Moore. Wood doubled the RPI lead at 5:07 of the second, netting his third of the season from classmates Riley Bourbonnais and Parker Reno.
Clarkson fought back to within 2-1 at 8:38 of the second stanza, when Brett Gervais scored his second of the campaign. Helpers went to Jordan Boucher and Nic Pierog.
Terrance Amorosa then netted the game-tying goal with 1:56 left in regulation. The tally, which was his first of the year, came unassisted.
Steve Perry (5-1-1) made 27 saves, while Jason Kasdorf had 28, before coming out of the game with 17:01 to play. Freshman Cam Hackett (0-0-1) made his collegiate debut, stopping 10 of the 11 shots he faced.
The Engineers are back on the ice tomorrow night, when they visit 15th-ranked St. Lawrence (7pm). The Golden Knights host Union tomorrow (7pm);
