TROY, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly award winners from men’s hockey and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Jason Kasdorf has been named Goaltender of the Week after helping the Engineers to three-point weekend.
A senior from Winnipeg, Man., Kasdorf went 1-0-1 last week, which included a 44-save shutout against eighth-ranked Cornell on Friday night at the Houston Field House. Posting a 0.96 goals against average and a .970 save percentage, he also had 20 stops in a 2-2 tie with Colgate on Saturday.
Kasdorf has started 15 of the team’s 24 games in goal, posting a 6-5-3 record. A former member of the Des Moines Buccaneers, he has a 2.01 goals against average and a .936 save percentage. Both of his shutouts have come against top-10 teams.
In seven league games, Kasdorf is 3-0-3 with a 1.28 goals against average and a .958 save percentage. Both of those figures rank first in ECAC Hockey. His .750 winning percentage and two shutouts rank third, while his 204 saves are ninth. Since returning from an injury that sidelined him for eight games, he has registered a 3-1-3 record with a 1.52 goals against average and a .947 save percentage.
In 73 career games at RPI, Kasdorf has a 32-30-7 record to go along with a 2.34 goals against average and a .918 save percentage.
The 16th-ranked Engineers (12-7-5; 5-1-5 ECAC Hockey) visit first-ranked Quinnipiac on Thursday (7pm), before taking on Union College at the Times Union Center on Saturday in the 4th Annual Mayor’s Cup (7:30pm).
