TROY, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly men’s hockey award winners and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Linden Marshall has been named Rookie of the Week after helping the Engineers to a 1-1 record last week.

A freshman from Victoria, B.C., Marshall posted a 1.52 goals against average and a .948 save percentage in two contests last week. He stopped 55 of the 58 shots he faced, including 29 of 30 in RPI’s 2-1 victory over then-No. 1 Cornell on Saturday night. Against Colgate the previous night, he made 26 saves on 28 shots in a 3-0 defeat. He had the second best goals against average and save percentage of any conference goaltender who played at least two games.

Marshall has appeared in 21 games for the Engineers this season, including 20 as a starter. A former member of the Trail Smoke Eaters, he has a 2.94 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. In 1203:52 minutes, he has 602 total saves, stopping more than 40 in a game three times and more than 30 on 11 occasions.

Earning the league’s Goaltender of the Week on January 16, he currently ranks sixth nationally in save percentage by a freshman at .911, Marshall is also fourth in total stops and fifth in minutes played. Since January 1, he is 2-6-1 with a 2.74 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.

In 13 ECAC Hockey games (12 starts), Marshall is 3-6-2 with a 2.88 goals against average and a .916 save percentage, stopping 395 of 431 shots. He ranks sixth in conference save percentage and fourth in total saves.

The Engineers (5-20-4; 4-11-2 ECAC Hockey) are home to Dartmouth on Friday for their only game of the week. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm.
