TROY, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly award winners from women’s hockey and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Ena Nystrøm has been named MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week.

A freshman from Stavanger, Norway, Nystrøm made 79 saves in two games last week, including a career-high 50 stops at Penn State on Saturday afternoon. She registered 29 saves in a 2-0 loss to the Nittany Lions on Friday, before posting the first 50-save game by an RPI netminder since Lovisa Selander ’19 turned away 55 in the final game of the 2018-19 season at Cornell on March 3.

Nystrøm has started three games for the Engineers this season, going 0-3-0 with a 2.68 goals against average and a .940 save percentage. She has 125 saves on 133 shots in 178:56 minutes.

The Business and Management major was named the WW Division IA Best Goaltender in 2018 and helped her team to Norwegian League championships in 2015, 2016 and 2018. In her one season at the Ontario Hockey Academy, Nystrøm earned the Hardest Working Female Athlete award and the Sports Marketing award as well as being named to the Honor Roll.

RPI is idle this week, but returns to action on October 27 at Holy Cross (1:05pm).
